we had a blast on the first day of the #2019. we tried going to point loma, only to realize the govt. shutdown closed cabrillo monument, but we made the best of it and went to ocean beach instead. we walked around and got into some mischief. grabbed some fish tacos at south beach grill and bar. my favorite part of the day might have been the perfect banana split from Ghirardelli in downtown. we also met up with my co-workers and played some pool for jesse’s bday. overall it was an amazing day. Don’t just vote, get involved! Politics absolutely affect your lives, more than you probably realize and the lower level the politician, the more likely they have a direct impact on you!

Politicians are just people, if your candidates suck, run for office, especially at the lower levels anybody can win. For the most part they tend to be good paying jobs and we, as a country, desperately need a bottom up revolution in our government.

Edit: For example, city councils often have direct control over police departments, are you tired of cops raising revenue off of you and your neighbors via petty enforcement tactics, get in office and you can change that. Get the right person in office and you can redirect their priorities to dealing with real crimes and not raising money off the poor.

You can fix zoning issues that keep rents high, you can fix underfunded schools and broken bus stops, underfunded public transit systems and more. The greatest and worst thing about America is it grants 100% of the power to those who are involved in the political process, if we all get involved and demand better, we can be better. But if we continue to sit by and leave it to the wealthy to decide, they will continue to exploit us all…
